Strategy & Process for Entrepreneurs | Get organized, grow your business

Why?

Ever stop to think about why you do the things you do?

You should.

Think about it.

Do you get up in the morning, hustle to get people to and from, prep meals, work (which includes cooking, cleaning, and errands) and then fall into bed at the end of the day deliriously happy because you are doing your “life’s work?”

If you are, good for you!  You can skip the rest of this post and instead, navigate over to our mentoring section to help others.

If you are still here, it’s okay.  Not all of us know what our calling is or even know that we should have one.

So Congrats! You are in the majority … for now. (I aim to help you fix that)

Not having a larger purpose or calling means that you operate through most days on autopilot.  You do all the things you were taught to do without thinking about their impact on anything else.

Doing what you were taught isn’t bad, it is just what it is.

Doing what you were taught will get you the same results as it got the person who taught you.  (PS – if you were taught to be crazy awesome, it is pretty likely that you already navigated to the mentoring section, just sayin’).

Most of us were taught to keep on keeping on;

  • to keep our promises;
  • clean up after ourselves;
  • get a job;
  • raise a family (maybe);
  • and the list goes on

We start our day on autopilot and stay that way never experiencing anything new or different.

STOP – Seriously Stop for a sec.

When you go someplace new for the first time,  you really think about it, right?  I mean hard core plan that stuff out.  You call the people you know, ask them what they did and how they did it and then you decide the path that is right for you.

So why don’t we do that with the rest of life?

Why did you go to school?

Why do you live where you live?

Why do you drive the car you drive?

Who TOLD you that was the way your life should (would) be?

And why – oh lardy lardy – WHY are you ok with it?

So stop.

Think of one thing you are just MEH about in your life.  Really pick that bugger apart.  Answer the following:

  1. I don’t like _______________
  2. The first time I heard about was  from ___________________________________.
  3. What makes the expert on ?
  4. Has ever (lardy forbid) been wrong about anything else?
  5. Is it possible that loves me but does not know everything and was maybe telling me what they believed to be true?
  6. If I change will it impact in any way?

If you can get to the end of this exercise, the answer to #6 should probably be “nope.”

So now that you realize that you MAY have been living/doing/being because you had bad input, make a change!  Get input that serves your higher purpose.  Don’t have a support network that can feed you good vibes?
